Interactive kitchen companions and heroes of the city - coming to TV?

Interactive LIGA total! on Entertain provides all a man could ask for. But what about the ladies? Wouldn´t an interactive kitchen companion on the TV be a great idea? Or how about using modern media systems (such as interactive television) to support people of courage?

During my researches I recently cam across two extremely interesting projects from students at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Having considered the projects for a short time I was immediately struck by the question of whether something like this might work very well for the television of the future.

The interactive kitchen companion

The “umami” project involves an intelligent, interactive media system that adds a new dimension to the kitchen environment and aims to redefine the cooking experience.
Unami

The cook can use a touchscreen to display tips, ideas and recipes, show a list of all the necessary ingredients, get information for allergy sufferers, is guided through the preparation process on a step-by-step basis, etc. If you ask me, I think the idea is brilliant!

Above all, I could imagine that an application of this type would also work really well on television. You can picture the scenario: the family sits down on the couch in front of the TV and uses a system like this to plan lunch or dinner or to decide on the menu for a forthcoming family celebration.

Heroes of the city - putting civil courage on the TV?

The second project I was impressed by is called “Stadthelden” (Heroes of the City). This involves an Internet portal that aims to use modern, interactive media systems to promote civil courage.
The system allows users to input cases of civil courage and other experiences (independently of the reportage in the major media) and to commend upon them. The crime scenes can be marked on an interactive street map using the Internet with the help of a smartphone, making them available for other users. Naturally there is also a link to other social networks. I think this is a really great idea!

What do you think? Wouldn´t portals like “Stadthelden” or applications like the interactive kitchen companion be something for televisions connected to IPTV or to the Internet in some other way?
