Some people talk, others work. While I take the time to update my blog, our team is working hard, checking out all the concepts submitted and putting them into a form that will be suitable for scrutiny by our panel of experts. There´s plenty of work to be done this year because we have had many more entries than last year - including a lot of very exciting submissions.

At this point I would like once again to say a big thank you to all those who submitted an entry for the Interactive TV Award 2011.

The team is preparing the award contributions for the experts

Some people talk, others work.

How things are to proceed: Our first step will be tomorrow´s initial screening of the contributions with our product managers for IPTV and Entertain. This will be followed directly by further rounds with various expert groups and preparations for the big internal jury meeting to be held on 8 November in Bonn. This is when our executives will consider your TV ideas in detail: managers will be drawn from Innovation Management, Products & Innovation, IPTV Product Management and T-Venture. The winners of the first round will be chosen in the late afternoon on 8 November and their names will be announced as quickly as possible.

What new television ideas have we received this year? I cannot reveal too many details at this point, but our motto “Television as we live” is reflected very well in the entries: topics range from the individualization of program design and the integration of communication services or social networks. to interactive television for senior citizens. or proposals for specific innovative TV formats.

Here are the raw figures: We are very pleased at the 55% growth in the number of submissions in comparison with last year, reaching a total of 70 concepts. We see this as evidence of your confidence in us. Almost 40 of the submissions come from the “Developer” category, outweighing the “Freestyle” ideas. As well as Germany, we have attracted teams from 9 other countries throughout the world, namely Israel, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, India, Portugal, Russia, Sweden and the USA. Alongside Germany, Israel, Switzerland and Finland were particularly well represented.

That will have to suffice for now because I can´t leave the rest of the team to work without me ;-). Next week, when the discussions among our experts start to gather pace, I will be able to tell you a bit more about the content of the submissions.

… likes his task as a project manager of Deutsche Telekom Interactive TV Award for the variety and because of its strategic aspects. He organizes the innovation contest and keeps it running. From his Twitter timeline we learn that he is also a sports-mad fan of Austrian motorbikes and of Cologne carnival.
